Hospitality Design: Philly Pride, July 2007
The new “uwishunu Hotel Room Makeover” program at the Westin Philadelphia combines the feel of the city of brotherly love with fun design. The hotel recently teamed up with uwishunu, a tourism initiative by the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, and called in nearly 30 local interior, textile, accessory, and lighting designers to give room 414 yhe ultimate Philly renovation. Designer R.J. Thornburg and art curator Eileen Tognini led the redesign, which tells the city’s story through artwork, amenities by Duross & Langel, handcrafted cabinetry from Sheerman & Gosweiler, and light sculpture by Warren Muller. “In creating a uwishunu hotel room with the Westin, we’re bringing the contemporary, hip Philadelphia story alive,” explains Errin Cecil-Smith, program director from uwishunu. In addition to the products showcasing Philadelphia’s artistic flair, Westin’s signature Heavenly Bed and 35-inch flatscreen LCD television will also fill the room.
