Jon Olivieri: Paintings Prints and Video 2007-2009
Please join us for an encore reception of one the region's most promising young artists. Olivieri's innovative work represents a range of scales with concepts that elicit geological forms, biomechanics, climatology and more. A 2006 graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Oliveri has explored a variety of media which will be presented en total for this exhibition.
Artist Statement
"The paintings prints and video are directly inspired by travels through Iceland's north west, an area that contains unique geological forms. Rock formations exposed though eons of glacial floods and seismic activity lay bare an earth that is marvelously violent, blind and confused. The experience of the brute physical becoming of the Earth’s anatomical structure revealed the deceptive nature inherent to all systems of scale. In order to unrestrain modes of representation from their inherent impositions of measurement on form, I had to consider my subjects as a whole in a maximalist approach."
Encore Reception
Second Thursday, May 14th 2009 from 6-9PM.
Exhibition runs through May 31st.
